formes proximales
Galerie Marie-Robin - Paris

Charles David Wajnberg : formes proximales (2024)

for real-time electronics

Nothing in Formes proximales is predefined, at least not in its material. The sonic qualities, whether evoking instrumental synthesis or concrete music, are derived from the properties of the space in which the setup unfolds. While my composition typically explores the uncertain areas of performers’ play, this purely electroacoustic work amplifies the slightest movements of the space’s visitors, dressing the silences and surrounding sounds in a minimal musical halo. In the now autonomous machine, I’ve recreated part of my writing process, including analysis and transformation procedures capable of giving life to an acoustic landscape.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Galerie Marie-Robin, the premiere of Formes proximales will be complemented by a presentation of I keep light (2009) for soprano, flute, and piano, and Émissions (2023) for horn and electronics.
