Two extracts from prima (2007), for flute, illustrate Annual Magazine‘s presentation of Vittorio Santoro‘s work. For FIAC 2013, Vittorio Santoro designed a cover for Annual Magazine issue 6. His work has been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin, the Kunstmuseum Thun Berlin and the Tate Modern in London. The artist talks about her work with paper, her time-based texts, which are words or phrases written on the same support over a period of six months, like a meditation, a reflection on words and time.

Here, the fragile sounds of the flute harmonize with Santoro’s crumpling of paper, as he slowly superimposes obsessive writings of just a few signs, like the composer on his sheet of paper.
